I am wanting to do a rotor and brake replacement soon sometime before this summer ends (maybe just brake pads first) and would like to ask some general questions on recommendations of the consumables.
I am not a modder or racer, just use my RSX for daily driving, family stuff and errands.
The car, premium rsx, is still completely stock since I bought it new in 2004 and I want to keep it going for as long as I can. I am doing things as they come and as I try to learn more from the service manual - within my limits and budget (Won't be touching any major engine or tranny components! :D)
I guess some general things I was thinking of buying includes:
- grease (I read on here copper paste is good?)
- brake fluid (Again, read on here people recommend valvoline dot 3)
- brake pad economical brand perhaps? Nothing too expensive please but if it is really that good, recommend anyways... xD
- Rotor brand...? (I am actually not too sure when I should replace rotors...)
I had my brakes and rotors replaced around 1.5 year ago and I think the total life on them are just over 8k KM (+/- 2k KM) maybe (Est).
Also, I want to replace the caliper rubber boots but am not sure where to find them...anyone have the part # or should I just call in to Acura...?
