I currently have an Injen SRI and a Magna Flow Catback exhaust set up. I am seriously considering the basic ECU reflash. However, I am also interested in upgrading my throttle body to a (BLOX Throttle Body-which is CARB legal), and possibly adding a (Weapon-R Intake Manifold-which is also CARB legal). Skunk2 no longer makes CARB legal Intakes for the '05/'06's from what they told me. Adding the additional air flow would require an upgraded Fuel Rail as well, either Hybrid Racing Series Fuel Rail or Skunk2 Composite Fuel Rail, if they are compatible with the Intake Manifold.
I realize that Hondata Kpro would be the best available option to incorporate the above mentioned bolt-ons, however Kpro is not CARB compliant/legal. So, I guess my question is, if I add the above components to my engine, will the basic Hondata ECU Reflash w/o race header be able to compensate for the new air/fuel mixture? Can this be Dyno Tuned at a Speed Shop so that the engine will work properly without a Kpro?.
My only other options to gain some horsepower I suppose would be to add a CARB legal Highflow CAT and DCI Shorty Headers (which are CARB compliant). Not sure if the cost of the DCI Shorty Headers are worth the HP gains though. Most importantly though, I will still need to pass the bi-annual smog test.
If none of the above bolt ons are workable and cannot be Dyno'd without Kpro, my options are obviously limited to just the basic Hondata ECU reflash without race header with my current setup.
I appreciate any constructive feedback and/or suggestions as to what options I have for some additional horsepower. I am trying to get around 280-300 BHP, or as close as I can to that number.
Thanks in advance for your help.
