I love this site, I use it all the time for reference and DIY projects. I never joined because I always find what I need by searching.

Anyway, been in the car game for a while lol. My first car was an 89 teg when I was 14, now im 30 and i'm still modding and swaping Hondas.

Just picked up a 2004 RSX-S in December.

Here the question I can't figure out. What happened to the AVID racing company? I just broke both my motor mounts practicing launching after installing some ESMMs. So i found a great deal on some basic AVID tuner series mounts. I know reviews are mixed but i couldnt pass up the deal. Im just trying to figure out what durameter the mounts i ordered are. They guy i bought them from doesnt know.

Strange Idle 2004 rsx type s

Hi everyone. I have been driving this car for about a year now (188k) and had no trouble except I have always had a p1457 code which everything I read said was the evap vent shut valve was leaking. So about 3 weeks ago I removed the part cleaned it checked that it seemed to work and put it back... well now it does not throw the p1457 code but instead a p0497.

Well about a week ago I come back from a road trip and try to drive my car which had been sitting at my brothers in the mountain (was cold that week) and for the first time I have the dreaded jumping idle. It would go to 2.5k then to 1.5k and back. Well this went away after the car warmed up and I kept driving it.

Since I had read that a p0497 can be the purge solenoid on the throttle body I figure between that and the jump idle that most likely the purge solenoid and the IACV were blocked. So I took the throttle body off cleaned everything and even replace the purge valve with another I had laying around and had tested.... well I am still wanting to see if the CEL comes back but now I have a new problem my idle is weird.

So I will do my best to describe it. 1) it now idles at 900ish instead of 800 where it always has. 2) When I blimp the throttle the rpms will go up like normal and fall like normal until about 1k then the car will rev back up to 1.5kish and slowly drop back down to 900rpm idle. 3) If I let off the gas and press the clutch while moving my rpms drop to 1.3 stay there for a few seconds and then slowly start to drop down. 4) It just does some strange sporadic jumps that can really be described but none are over 2k. Honestly it seems like it has gotten almost suck in what I usually call the cold start protocol where the engine high revs and then drops to normal idle as it warms up.

At this point I just don't know what to do and could greatly use some help.

Invidia Q300 hitting the chassis and rattling

Hi all,

I just installed the Invidia Q300 catback yesterday. The pipe between the resonator and the cat is hanging too high, almost touching/touching the heat shield between the chassis and the pipe. I can't even put a piece of radiator hose between them. The exhaust rattles like crazy when driving. Does anyone have any idea to solve this problem? Any soft, thin and high temp material I can use as a vibration absorber?

I know some people suggested to bend the exhaust hanger. But if I do so, do I need to take off the cat/header hanger and the resonator hanger too? Both ends of the pipe are hanging high and touching the heat shield.

My front right bumper cover is detached from the fender. I know this is a common issue with RSX's, so I imagine someone has fixed this without having to replace the whole bumper. (I was thinking of epoxying it or using some type of clip)

Anyone with great knowledge on PS

Yesterday I changed my powersteering hose & now I have a whine when I turn the wheel when I start my car & usually it lasts for like 15 minutes. But after that the sound goes away. There will be times where I start the car & the noise is gone & it's totally fine but In order for that to happen, the previous time I drive it I would turn the wheel all the way to the left or right & turn the car off like that. So next time I start it the noise is gone. Sometime after I drive I see a little foaming in the resovor. Now can anyone help me? I don't think I have a bad PS pump bc this problem never happened before I changed the hose. Also, I've been told to give it a couple days to let the excess air in the system to naturally come out & go away. Is that right? Should the noise stop after a couple days when the trapped air comes out? I've tried bleeding it too, but no solution. Please lmk your ideas or thoughts. Hopefully the noise goes away soon.

Took clutch out, want to understand why it failed

So I bought my type s two months ago with 160k. everything was hunky dory, seemed great until like 2 weeks ago I was on the interstate in cruise control in 6th and noticed it slipping. got off cruise control and tried to accelerate further, nothing. got onto the shoulder and the car wouldnt go into any gear, wouldnt stall with the clutch pedal out in 1st etc, and burnt clutch smell. i realized too that the week before i was slipping in 1st but didnt realize it at the time

so anyways, fast forward to now and I finally got my clutch out! all the fuzzy clutch material is everywhere, in the bellhousing, in the teeth of the flywheel, etc.
i took some pics of my clutch since I couldnt find any info on how to read the clutch disk to understand why it failed like how people read wear markings on engine parts.

2005 Silver RSX, blown motor, rest is good

Support environment for a motor... 2005 in condition, 12 years old but 2 in the driveway licking its wounds.

Water into intake so motor is blown. Bent piston rods, probable cylinder damage, possibly bad head, valves. Drop in a long block or UPGRADE!

Only body damage is hood, driver side near headlight
Steering wheel outside layer peeled off in places, same on shift boot.

Hi everyone. New to this forum. Can't wait to get started looking through the posts and rest of the site but first I need help with a problem I'm having. My rsx is an '04 type s, pretty much bone stock except for cat replaced with test pipe. My car only had 30k miles on it when my brother missed a gear and knocked 2 holes in the block. I was able to scavenge a replacement from eBay with 89k. My problem is I was wanting to remove the blown engine from the top without removing the tranny but it is hanging on something. Is it possible to remove engine through top without tranny. Thanks

The TRMs are really light (which is great!) and may bend (I hear they are going out of production hence my halt on them). Plus I do not like the big text logo on the center cap... I am stock ride height and plan to stay that way. I will have no issues with anything correct??

Help W/ Door Not Opening From Inside

I was replacing both my actuators due to an irritating noise every time I lock/unlock it. I broke one of the door clips(yellow) in the process but immediately replaced it. Everything is identical to my passenger door which opens no problem.

How come the door latch cable I'm pulling manually as seen in the video is unresponsive?
If anyone could help me that'd be great!

She's nothing fancy, just a base model- she's my daily driver.
I'm in the beginning stages of doing some work on her, mostly for looks.
I want to have some minor dings fixed and repaint, same color- maybe more sparkly though, get some new lights since mine are not in the best shape...
The only thing I've done since I bought it was tint the windows.

Craigslist K24A2

I came across a K24A2 engine with 125K miles on it that a guy was selling for $240.00 because he claimed it had a rod knock.
He said he thinks water may have gotten in the intake manifold, he described the sound as a "ticking" but it still drove.

When I got to the shop that removed the engine, the techs told me they weren't sure why the guy wanted the engine removed
because they turned the crank over manually with ease, there were no metal shavings in the oil, and didn't find any water anywhere.

So my question is, do I really need to take this thing apart before swapping it out? I don't know anything about timing an engine nor installing piston rings/pistons
so I don't want to screw anything up with putting it back together. My current engine has 305K miles on it and its been smoking for some time now so I'd like to swap it out sooner than later.

Help W/ Door Not Opening From Inside

I was replacing both my actuators due to an irritating noise every time I lock/unlock it. I broke one of the door clips(yellow) in the process but immediately replaced it. Everything is identical to my passenger door which opens no problem.

How come the door latch cable I'm pulling manually as seen in the video is unresponsive?
If anyone could help me that'd be great!

New to the board. Just wanted to show some respect to everyone on here. Been reading up and it seems to be a great place for some info.

Ive done some searching and found alot of info but also couldnt find what i needed

I own a 03 RSX base auto
Keeping the auto! (no excuses i just like auto slap shift of the rsx)
I also just bought a 05 k24a2 TSX engine to swap in.
Id like to run ktuner. To my understanding it works with the 05 - 06 ECU but i can convert my harness to work with this ECU

Ive downloaded the pinouts for the ECU's and im having a few issues.

my 1st is Can i just buy a premade adapter for the whole job?
Ive found the manual adapter but i cant seem to find one that includes the transmission terminals C,D

My other question is. IS there a user on here who builds adapter harnesses who i can pay for this.

I dont mind modifying my harness but id rather not...
I like having everything ready before i start a project like this.

anyway. I know ill get the few users who say DO A SEARCH DUMBASS. but i tried and it seems that most the info on here is very old or only for manual users.

Custom airbox?

Hi so I will be staring a custom air box mod reason being I have short ram getting heal soak like a mofo and the fan kicks on and it blows hot air straight into the intake it's usually sitting at 104F sometimes a little higher. So I want to do something about it. I got a old air box from a friend as a gift and I saw Hondata had a custom mod you could do to it.

But I was thinking of going beyond that and getting the whole thing gutted. That's the idea now I also was wondering is there some kind of spray or coating I can put on the inside of the intake manifold so it can stay a little more colder? I also was thinking of putting that heat shield on the box like what they put under your cabin and over the headers. I thought that was over kill. So I want to hear ideas and I want to see pics of your guys set up . Thanks for the help!

Anyone know if these wheels will fit on '05 Acura RSX type-s with 245/45/17 or 255/45/17 tires? I have Eibach lowering springs with 1.6 inch drop in back and 1.2 inch drop in front.

Not looking to modify the wheel wells or roll fenders to make them fit. Otherwise, will continue the wheel search for fits.

New steering wheel leather?

Start off by saying this I'm no pro lol and I was in it to see the outcome and see how far I can push my skills. I definitely loved pushing my boundaries though here is a couple pictures o the steering wheel and I know it's not perfect, but I learned a lot more about leather upholestry and if I were to try this again I guarantee I could make it a lot better. The whole point was to push my skill set and make the car a little more familiar to me.

This combination includes two new specific-for-this-application spring designs. Crisp turn-in and much less body roll. Great chassis balance near the limit. The street ride is OK on smooth roads, and will 'communicate' small bumps and some harshness. This combination is for the project car that's 'driven on weekends'. These springs will ride poorly on rough roads.

This setup shines on the track. Higher spring rates mean less body roll and more front grip. You will notice better chassis balance and less speed-robbing understeer during cornering.
