Hi everyone. I have been driving this car for about a year now (188k) and had no trouble except I have always had a p1457 code which everything I read said was the evap vent shut valve was leaking. So about 3 weeks ago I removed the part cleaned it checked that it seemed to work and put it back... well now it does not throw the p1457 code but instead a p0497.
Well about a week ago I come back from a road trip and try to drive my car which had been sitting at my brothers in the mountain (was cold that week) and for the first time I have the dreaded jumping idle. It would go to 2.5k then to 1.5k and back. Well this went away after the car warmed up and I kept driving it.
Since I had read that a p0497 can be the purge solenoid on the throttle body I figure between that and the jump idle that most likely the purge solenoid and the IACV were blocked. So I took the throttle body off cleaned everything and even replace the purge valve with another I had laying around and had tested.... well I am still wanting to see if the CEL comes back but now I have a new problem my idle is weird.
So I will do my best to describe it. 1) it now idles at 900ish instead of 800 where it always has. 2) When I blimp the throttle the rpms will go up like normal and fall like normal until about 1k then the car will rev back up to 1.5kish and slowly drop back down to 900rpm idle. 3) If I let off the gas and press the clutch while moving my rpms drop to 1.3 stay there for a few seconds and then slowly start to drop down. 4) It just does some strange sporadic jumps that can really be described but none are over 2k. Honestly it seems like it has gotten almost suck in what I usually call the cold start protocol where the engine high revs and then drops to normal idle as it warms up.
At this point I just don't know what to do and could greatly use some help.
