My name's Christian and I'm from Orange County, California. I just purchased a 2002 Acura RSX Type-S with 186,500 miles, White Diamond Pearl, $4000. She has a pretty noticeable scratch on the left side of the front bumper, but the original owner was kind enough to give me some OEM touch up paint. The rest of the car is in very good condition for its age. The paint still shined and no chipping. Very minimal rust on the undercarriage but the engine bay was bit dirty. The interior did not look its age. Leather was a bit cracked, but the rest looked great. She was a one-owner vehicle who kept it stock except for the OEM replacement of the AC compressor.
Reasons I bought this car:
1.Reliability. It's a Honda.
2. Sportyness. I'm coming from having a motorcycle (Yamaha FZ07) as my one and only vehicle. If you know anything about that bike is that it's a blast to ride, especially in the canyons. I refused to spend my hard earned cash on a boring vehicle, especially an automatic trans :thumbsdow:. I needed something fun. Vtec was the answer.
3. Budget. My budget was 6k. Finding a car that would compete with my bike (0-60 3.4 sec.) with that budget was unrealistic, so I started researching "sporty", reliable, cars within that budget. After some long hours of research, the RSX it was.
I found this forum through a google search, and was happy I found it. I know it's an old forum since the RSX is a teen now, but I believe this is a good place for info. I'll admit, I'm a huge noob when it comes to cars. I can perform basic maintenance (spark plugs, brake pads, oil, etc.) but that's it. When it comes to performance mods, I'm clueless. I just found out what a coilover was a few minutes ago. This forum is hopefully going to cure my noob disease. There's so much information, I don't really know where to start :dontknow:.
I would ask the usual dumb questions of, "What should I mod first?", or "What are the best mods?", but I know that's a big no-no. There's a search button for that.
Nonetheless, I would still greatly appreciate any advice you have. I have a lot to learn and any information is helpful.
