'06 Base Taffeta 5 speed here!

What's up guys obviously a new poster here, long time lurker tho. Me and my lady picked up this clean 06 base about a year and a half ago with 70k miles on it.
finally looking at some extra cash inflow and want to start modding but don't really know where to start.

Main thing right now is to fix things like a power steering leak,
probably a new clutch (will explain later lol) and the AC refrigerant is also leaking.

Anyways, a little about me, I'm 24, work at a Bentley/Maserati/Rolls Royce dealership in parts and I DJ and produce in my spare time.

Stability Problem Going Over 60mph

Hello everyone, I have an almost stock 06 RSX base. Only modification I have on is AEM Short RAM Intake. Currently, waiting for my Eibach front sway bar to come in the mail. At the moment, I'm also saving up for a strut bar. Other things I can think of: my tires are still okay, my wheel balance is fine, and my local mechanic says there's nothing wrong with the car.

My issue is driving over 60mph on certain highway roads, I just have this feeling that my steering wheel is loose; every vibration causes my car to shift a little. I'm not stepping on the throttle just cruising at 60mph onto 80mph.

On a side note, when I do open up the throttle hitting about 100mph, the car seems fine.

I'm thinking it's probably just certain roads but what should I do to my car so I can get rid of the issue. My dad drives a 2013 Nissan Maxima and I would like it if my RSX could stay as stable as his car.

My name is Emmanuel and I've lurked around here since I had my Celica GTS. I had it parked on the street curb and some guys rammed into and totaled it. After that I purchased my red 2012 Honda Accord Coupe 5 speed but it felt to bulky and big. (Thats what she said) lol I wanted an RSX-S but I thought I needed something more financially responsible and a little bigger because of a growing family. 2 years has passed and I couldn't resist not owning an RSX. Found this Gem at Salinas Mitsubishi and I could't pass it up. 2006 Acura RSX Type S 120,000 miles. The Replica Type R Wing isn't on anymore, I decided to put the OEM one back on. Thanks for viewing, questions or comments good or bad welcomed.

Issue with rear hub bearing and Brembo

Hello,
few weeks ago I started hearing noise coming from rear left wheel, it came out to be a bearing.
I have 2006 RSX type-S with whole Brembo conversion.
I bought new hub with bearing dedicated for RSX

http://ift.tt/1Ai8jrQ

Unfortunately, part didn't fit. I thought since I have Brembo brakes, maybe I need to look for hub dedicated for DC5.

I got this new hub for DC5
http://ift.tt/2anHVs8

same story, it didn't fit
anyone knows what could be an issue?

Outside Front Windshield Fogs

I'm having an issue with my 06 RSX Base. Tonight I was driving in the rain and every time light reflected over my front windshield, I couldn't see a thing. Not sure what it is fog or smudges caused by my front windshield wipers--even though I just changed them 2 weeks ago. But for some reason, the front windshield wipers rub again the glass. Took it to a few mechanics and they don't have a straight answer other than buy new metal wiper arms.

I took a rag and wiped the inside of the front windshield nothing changed. Wiped the outside of my front windshield and it was fine. A few swipes later from front my window shield wipers and it was fogged again.

The back wipe and window are fine.

I'm not sure if it's even fog since it only shows up when there is a reflection of light. I drove down dark roads and it was perfect. As soon as there was a light post, I was blind.

Any ideas?

Differences between base and type s unibody

I just crashed my 04 type s, and Im wondering if there are any differences between the base and type s unibody itself, or if the differences are just motor, suspension, body, interior, sound system, etc.

Basically Im wondering if I took all that stuff out of my crashed type s and put it in a base model, would it drive/perform the same as the type s did?

Acceleration problems

I got a 05 type s, seems like whenever i reach down to half a tank of gas or a 1/4 of gas, ill punch it and the car will just immediatly bog out and then slowly start to catch up and run back to normal. U wanna see if anyones had this issue b4? Thinking maybe it has to do with the fuel pump or something..:vtec::schwing:::eek::deadhorse

Missing intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector

My AEM cold air intake broke at the handle (entirely, now there is a hole where the handle use to be), so I plan to replace it with the stock 2003 rsx type-s air intake for now. My problem is that the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector for the stock box is missing. So my questions to everyone are:

1. Do I have to buy a replacement from Acura and if so what is the part number for the IAT?

2. Will it work with any intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector that I can buy off of eBay? (that is if it’s a no for question 1)

3. Can I detach the IAT from the AEM cai and put it on the stock intake?

Please help me answer these questions so I may have more solution options.

Thanks for your help and any additional response would be appreciated.

Help, stiff clutch pedal.

To make this as short as possible I swapped my clutch with an Exedy Stage 1 and after two months of driving my knee was killing me. I decided to have an Exedy OEM cutch installed and initially it was perfect, light pedal and smooth engagement. Two weeks later, and seemingly in one day, the pedal is back to being really hard to press. I've had the master/slave cylinder replaced and the fluid flushed but it didn't make a difference. Any idea what would be causing my clutch pedal to be so stiff?

AC Blows Cold - Hot - Cold - Low pressure climbs when not cooling

2003 RSX Base that I have owned for past 10 years. Never touched the AC on it before. Car has 120K miles on it now.

Last week I noticed on hot days (88 to 90+ degrees) that the AC would blow cold, then randomly stop cooling for a while, then start cooling again and repeat. Really hot days above 94+ once it stopped cooling it would seldom start again. On cooler days under 80 to 85 degrees, it works perfect most of the time and seldom stops cooling.

I ran the self diagnostics several times and they show no errors.

Hooked up a manifold set tonight at about 78 degrees ambient.

The high side stayed almost constant at about 160 PSI. The low side when it was cooling properly would go from about 30 PSI to 45 PSI and then cycle back down. After about 30 minutes it finally stopped cooling. When this happened the high side stayed at 160 PSI and the low side kept climbing until it was in the 65 to 70 PSI range. It stayed there for a good 5+ minutes until it cycled and dropped back down to 30 PSI and worked normal again for a while. Later it stopped cooling again and repeated the climb to around 70 PSI. It stayed there for several minutes and then cycled again and started cooling with the low side in the 30 to 45 PSI range.

When it is cooling the vent temperature shows about 42 degrees.

Any ideas what this might be?

Low Mileage RSX Type S Question

Hi,

I found a 2006 Type S with 1500 miles. This car is clean and like new. However it's in another state and I'm unable to go there to see it. The car was used inside a Honda training center. I was told that the car gets taken apart and put together in these places for training purposes. After Honda no longer needs the car, they sell it to the dealer. I was told that the car is obviously put back together my professionals. The price is high and I am willing to pay, however, should I be concerned? The dealer that is selling the car had it inspected by Acura and everything checks out. Is this a risky move? Anyone with any experience with cars like this? Do parts deteriorate when not used for 10 years?

Thanks

Fog light filler?

I have no fog lights in my 05 Acura RSX but the space is open where the black cover usually goes, I have no idea where to find this online. Can anyone help me out or should I just live with it until I buy some fogs?

Melted rear bumper repair help!

Im not sure if this is in the right section of the forum, but I had a Spec D exhaust back in March that melted my bumper. A lot. So I cut it out so it wouldn't melt anymore and have since moved on to a custom cat back. I would like to fix this melted cutout part and am in the process of doing so, but I'm not sure if it will work or hold. I got a 3M self adhesive body patch and trimmed it to cover the cutout part and I plan on putting body filler on and then smooth everything out. My question is does anybody know a better way of doing this or what should be fix? The pics areAttachment 518425 with the patch on.

FS: JDM Swift Sway Bars & ITR Front LCA with Spherical Bushings and 02-04 Adapters!!

Completely changing up my suspension setup

Would like to sell everything as a combo, but will separate for the right price. I also have some Function7 Rear LCA with Spherical Bushings for sale in another thread... make it a super combo.

ITR Front LCA & Swift Sway Bars - $500 CAD Picked-Up
ITR Front LCA, Swift Sway Bars, & Function7 Rear LCA - $650 CAD Picked-Up
Completely change how your car drives in one shot!!

1) Swift Springs Stabilizer Sway Bars (Front & Rear) - $300 CAD Picked-Up
Used, in Excellent Condition. Front bar will only fit on 02-06 RSX & 02-05 EP3 Si with JDM ITR DC5R Aluminum Lower Control Arms. Rear will work on all 02-06 RSX & 02-05 EP3 Si, no modifications necessary. Front offers a 130% increase in stiffness over the JDM DC5R stock sway bar, the rear bar is an increase of 119%. These are sold in a set so I will not separate. MSRP for both is $640.

2) JDM DC5 ITR Front LCA w/ Spherical Bushings & 02-04 Ball Joint Collars - $300 CAD Picked-Up
Used, in excellent condition. Full aluminum arms with spherical bearings pressed in. On top of it all, I have the King Motorsport ball joint adapters so these will bolt right up to all 02-04 RSX & 02-05 Si EP. If you buy these arms, you will need a JDM front sway bar like the Swift ones I'm selling above. Pretty sure people ask $200 or so for the arms, the spherical bushings are not cheap and King used to sell the collars alone for $70-80 USD.

FS: 2005 Acura RSX Premium - Silver, Auto, ONLY 130KMS!!

MAKE: Acura
MODEL: RSX
TRIM: Premium
TRANS: Automatic (Tiptronic 5-Speed)
EXT COLOUR: Satin Silver Metallic
INT COLOUR: Black Leather

This is ClubRSX so I shouldn't need to explain the options and features of the car haha. This car has been in the family for a while now and only has 130K. It spent more time at the go station than it did on the road.

Car is in decent shape overall, but the exterior needs some TLC. There is a bit of rust coming up in the quarter panels and someone bumped into the rear bumper a few months ago. Interior is clean, no issues.

Mechanically, the car needs nothing, but has been sitting parked for the past month. The car had a recent tune up and got all new all-season tires.

Car comes with a Pioneer double-DIN head unit with GPS, DVD, and Bluetooth.

PRICE: $5000 OBO AS-IS

Shouldn't need anything for safety or e-test.

More Hints Honda is Working on a Baby NSX Surface

Quote:

It appears that a mystery Honda sports car is starting to take shape.

Last year, a patent filing by Honda revealed that a possible baby NSX was in the works, and now a recently published patent design in the U.S. could be giving us a hint at what its dash could look like. Reddit user urbanglowcam did some investigating and found that this particular patent design actually correlates with the baby NSX patent that was published last year in France on the same day. Unfortunately, there’s not much to go off, except that the dash certainly looks like something that would fit the design of the baby NSX with sharp angles and a futuristic look.

The bigger clue is the design numbers: 001435556-0001 for the car and 001435556-0002 for the dashboard. In the EU’s filing system, the -0001 and -0002 following the same series of numbers typically indicate they are parts of the same design.

What is exciting is the fact that Honda is filing patent applications for both the vehicle and its possible dash in the U.S., meaning whatever sports car it is working on is likely destined for North America. The original patent design had a few Honda S660 styling cues and was supposedly created in Honda’s American design studio.

Of course, Honda enthusiasts are hoping that this is a successor to the Honda S2000, and rumor has it that the company is preparing a car for its 70th anniversary in 2018.

car stalling, looking for a solution

So I've had my type s now for about 5 months, and a problem just started occurring.

So 2 weeks ago, my gas gauge was the lowest I've let it get, about 1/8th of a tank, the gas light wasn't on, but i've never let the tank get below 1/4th tank ever. The car stalled 3 times in traffic in about 10 minutes. Once while stopping, another while accelerating from a stop, and once while cruising along in 6th at 40. Once I got onto the highway and was cruising at 70 in 6th it didn't stall the entire 15 minute drive. I stopped, filled up. and it didn't stall anymore.

Today, again, gas gauge below 1/4th, has yet to stall. I fill up with 93 at the local shell. Always topping the tank off to the brim. As I'm pulling away, the car stalls. Start it back up, has yet to stall, but for some reason I feel like its lacking a bit. Not sure if I'm just paranoid as it still chirps into 2nd but the lower rpms seem to be lacking some power.

No check engine light. Battery and alternator were checked, alternator good, battery reading 12.7 volts. Idle is steady at ~600-700.

My guess is a fuel filter or pump being clogged? Or maybe a lot of debris in the tank? I hate to start throwing money at the problem and would like some definitive help.
