Code P2646 PD and P0304 troubleshooting

Hello there. I have a question which I don't really know how to get it fixed without throwing couple hundred bucks out of the windows.

Recently, when I was driving from work back home, I saw my Check Engine light on (nothing was wrong, I didn't feel any difference driving it, it could be unnoticeable). So when I got home, I plugged in the OBD scanner and found out 3 codes: P2646, P2646 PD and P0304 (cylinder 4 misfire). I don't know how to get access to any of that but I do know someone who knows something about it, so any input that would help me and him get access to the parts would be much appreciated. Thank you.

P/S: Would getting replacement parts from the junk yard be a good idea for this situation? or should i get brand new parts from the dealers? I am just a 22yo student so I really don't want to spend too much you know...

05 K20A3 Spark plug condition

What's everyone. 05 160k miles K20A3 motor and I just changed my spark plugs (previously changed at 85-90kish?)

I had a P0420 Code recently and I changed the plugs and luckily, this fixed it up as the code went away after 25 miles of driving and resetting the ecu/re-learning the drive cycle
:weeeeeeeeee: :noes:

What ya'll think of the condition of the plugs?

Honda key for DC5 06'

I just called two Honda dealerships in my area to get a Honda key cut and programmed trying to put the finishing touches on my "Acura delete." I have all the JDM emblems, car mats ect. However this Honda key situation seems to be eluding me.

They told me that I would need to figure out which Honda Fcc code works with my car. Despite scouring the internet to find this information, I have only come across DIY projects and people asking how much it costs for a new key. Who knows, maybe I'm just old and bad at the internet lol.

I can't find any pertinent information about which model key and or fob will work from Honda. Even if I can't figure out how to get Honda to program and cut me a Honda key, I still can't DIY one like the other posts because even they don't say which model key or fob to get off ebay specifically for a DC5 06.

Worst case scenario I eventually upgrade my ECU anyway, and disable my immobilizer and just get my key code. I am hoping it won't come to that.

Any info to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Circuit of The Americas (COTA) Track Event February 24-26, 2017

Good Morning:

I hope this finds each of you in good spirits as we trek through Fall toward Winter. I for one think a more southern location is in the cards. Perhaps a mid-Winter trip to sunny, warm Austin, Texas?!

For the fifth year in a row MVP Track Time is headed to Texas. It’s time to sign up for three days of driving on America’s only purpose built F1 track, Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. MVP Track Time has scheduled our 5th annual three-day COTA track event for February 24 – 26, 2017.

Now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the investment to play at COTA. The entry fee for all three days is $1,375, same price and 2014-2016. If you’d like to register for a single day or two days, contact me at (314) 249-3770.

Initially, as with our previous COTA events, this event will be for ADVANCED and INTERMEDIATE skill/experience drivers only. If demand warrants it, we may open COTA to novice attendees.

If you are in doubt whether you meet the Advanced or Intermediate criteria, call me at (314) 249-3770 to discuss your experience. There are a limited number of spots available for COTA. Yes, COTA fills fast.

STEP 1
The $1,375 entry fee for all three days at COTA can only be completed with Pay Pal (you can use any major credit card through the Pay Pal system if you don’t have a Pay Pal account) at the link below:

http://ift.tt/1sAn6d4

STEP 2
Once you have completed the entry fee, head over to the “Registration Page” of MVP’s web site (link below) to register. You’ll need to scroll to the bottom of the page to complete the blue outlined registration box. Click on the“Event” drop-down menu and choose Circuit of The Americas (COTA): February 24-26, 2017.

http://ift.tt/1AC1eCs

After we have allocated the registrations by run group, based on individual track experience, we will send out group confirmation e-mails to each run group. We will have four (blue, green, yellow and red) run groups allowing us to schedule two hours of track time daily.

In the spirit of transparency, the rental of COTA, as you can guess, is very expensive, so once you register, MVP will not be able to give you a refund until COTA is sold out and we have a replacement for you. If/when we can replace you, there will be a $100 cancellation fee. Inside of four weeks (January 26, 2017 and later) prior to the COTA event there is no refund. This is the expensive reality of renting Circuit of The Americas.

A ”Garage Rental” e-mail will go out when registration is complete. Each garage easily holds four cars, so there are plenty to go around, however, they are first come, first served.

If you have any questions, grab the phone and call me at (314) 249-3770 or you can e-mail Feffman@MVPTrackTime.com.

Happy Motoring and I hope to see you at COTA. Enjoy your day.

Why is my type S so slow???

I just bought this car today. (VIN verified, it's a type S). I've had B series integras faster than this. This is my first one, so I'm wondering what I could check to see why it doesn't put a smile on my face when I hit the throttle. I honestly think a damn SOHC VTEC could beat me. The car runs strong, no oil leaks or loud exhaust (The one I have is pretty quiet). No rough idle or anything. It's so weird. Anyone got any pointers? Maybe I need to find someone with one and ride with them to compare...

Questions about A/F Ratio not reading on KPRO

Does anyone know why my A/F Ratio is not reading on KPRO ? I have a check engine light code for "P1166". I know it's a code for the primary but wouldn't it still read A/F Ratio ? I was assuming this would apply for the Secondary o2.
Any help would be appreciated.

Rev Hangs while slowing/coming to stop in neutral

When slowing down and coming to a stop, i put the car into neutral. RPM hangs around 1.2-1.5k and slowly goes to 900rpm(my idle). Happens more often while the car is hot.. Already cleaned TB, changed IACV and remove catch can setup

any suggestion would help..

injector questions

Guys can someone explain me injector basics?
what's the difference between different cc like 410cc, 550cc, 650cc, 1000cc?
what is low impedance high impedance? spray patterns?
what is factory standard injectors on base model? when I replace injectors , do I need some computer setup? How long original injectors last? when they need to change?

sites like ebay , many different type injectors sold with different cc values says fit rsx
, and sites like autozone offer me injectors as exact fit but says nothing about cc value or impedance etc.

If I install higher cc injectors, are they plug and drive or need some setup on ECU ?
if I install higher cc or different than factory standard , does it effect fuel economy?

here is the story
Year ago I service changed rotary assembly, since then gasoline smell coming from engine compartment. Last time visited, they told me, very small fuel leak from injector, asked $350 for injector change. ( I assume this price were for set of 4 injectors)
I removed cover and checked it, found out one of injectors has bad clip , very small leak, its not even dripping but cause gas smell. (Have no idea why service wanted to change all injectors , not only one or only clip) changing clips and o-rings with full repair set may solve problem but since this car is 12yrs old , I wonder is it time to change injectors? If I decide to change injectors , what injectors I need to use?

What's Good?

Hi,

I heard about this group on FB so I thought I'd see what it's all about. My husband and I are into the car scene. He drives a G35. It's all good. But, I'm looking for some RSX peeps to cruise the streets with.

I just started doing mods to mine. I have a 2003 Base. I plan to be working on it over the winter to have it ready to roll out next spring.

So, tell me...what's good?

Wrapping Car

So I want to wrap my car white, but I wanted to know if there were any wraps out there that look identical to paint. I've seen cars before that I could've sworn were painted but ended up being wrapped, I want to get a wrap that would have the same color and finish as PWP anyone know where I could find some? Closest I found was 3M Gloss White Vinyl

steering wheel options

yes i know, i need to find the 'search' button and do my homework. but given how seemingly common it is for these wheels to completely deteriorate, i was actually hoping for a concise guide on the options... i attempted to read the almost 300 posts on the sticky, but gave up after the 5th page of "look at my ridiculously expensive racing setup". sorry, just looking for a nice replacement.

so i'd GREATLY appreciate feedback on what the various options are. i hope this thread becomes useful to more than just me...

option 1 - find a replacement OE RSX wheel.
= not very likely to find a good one since they all seem to suffer from the outside wrap falling apart

option 2 - find a late model Honda wheel that'll work.
= this option is pretty attractive, but need to know how easily it transplants,
like will the horn, air bag, and cruise controls work.
which ones will work???

option 3 - replace the outer wrap with Redline Goods or other leather stitched wrap
= seems a reasonable option, if done right. seems that some wheels i've seen on here look ok, but most things do online (vs in real life).
any good or bad feedback on these?

option 4 - install an aftermarket wheel. lots of wheels to pick from, some really cheap, some very very expensive.
= for someone like me looking for a direct replacement, it'd be good to know which wheels are a direct replacement. And which ones have provisions for horn, cruise control, and airbag. guessing most will not have any of that.
are there any decent ones out there for ~$100-150 that have at least the horn control?

and what if the replacement wheel doesnt have the airbag, what can you do? defeat the MIL light?

Multiple CELS what one do I need and change first

Sorry for a new thread I looked for a while and I didn't find what I needed and I need to figure this out soon i have a 2006 Acura RSX base model I just bought it a few months ago and the guy told me there's K Pro in it 2002 - 2004 when I got the car it already had CEL s for primary O2 sensor and knock sensor I've heard that I have to buy a certain primary O2 sensor which I'm pretty sure is 02-2004 Denso part number 235-9005, QUESTION 1. is that the correct part number for the O2 sensor I need? QUESTION 2. do I have to buy it a certain knock sensor or can I just get the knock sensor that my car is calling for? QUESTION 3. if I can't buy the O2 sensor and the knock sensor at the same time to replace what one should I do first? QUESTION 4. Does the O2 sensor for knock sensor especially the O2 sensor because as to be a different one than my car called for because of the cape Pro do they have to be OEM Denso parts? I have been buying all Denso parts for the car or whatever the OEM is money is getting a little tight so I'm just wondering if I can buy something less expensive to at least get me through for a couple months until I can buy the actual OEM thanks for anybody's reply sorry for so many questions just want to make sure I do this right.

Tein street advance and bushings 2002 base

About 1/2 way done, and man it's been a lot of work. Due to the low level of corrosion on the bolts I thought life would be easy, but it's fought me all the way. I got the front bushings in and got discouraged to do the rear when the rear shock bolt froze and had to spend a gob of time dealing with that. With winter coming and the other frozen bushing junk, I'll wait until spring to do the rear.
Driver side front ready to go in, rear done.
Now onto the passenger side. Things go quicker when you figure all the ins and outs. with the drop and new wheels on thei way, I may be ready in a week. Frozen bolts and trying to find the right tools takes time. Dad was right, pick up your shit when your done.

Kpro goes -10 degrees when meth engages

Was on the dyno yesterday, running into major problems. As soon as my meth kit engages, the ecu instantly pulls all timing to -10 and the car falls flat on its face. However without meth, the car runs great! I'll post a datalog as soon as I can. Tried using the nitrous parameter as well as the water/meth parameter and no luck. Hondata most recent update was only about a week ago and the fix in it had to do with nitrous parameters not pulling timing during spray. Now all it does is pull timing. Not sure if they fixed one mistake but opened another. Any help is appreciated

My setup:
- 2002 type-s
- JRSC @9psi
- Snow meth kit controlled via kpro(175 nozzle @270psi)
- race header
- stock catback
- k&n typhoon short ram

Need advice for2005 Acura RSX Type-S California CARB Compliant Help

I currently have an Injen SRI and a Magna Flow Catback exhaust set up. I am seriously considering the basic ECU reflash. However, I am also interested in upgrading my throttle body to a (BLOX Throttle Body-which is CARB legal), and possibly adding a (Weapon-R Intake Manifold-which is also CARB legal). Skunk2 no longer makes CARB legal Intakes for the '05/'06's from what they told me. Adding the additional air flow would require an upgraded Fuel Rail as well, either Hybrid Racing Series Fuel Rail or Skunk2 Composite Fuel Rail, if they are compatible with the Intake Manifold.

I realize that Hondata Kpro would be the best available option to incorporate the above mentioned bolt-ons, however Kpro is not CARB compliant/legal. So, I guess my question is, if I add the above components to my engine, will the basic Hondata ECU Reflash w/o race header be able to compensate for the new air/fuel mixture? Can this be Dyno Tuned at a Speed Shop so that the engine will work properly without a Kpro?.

My only other options to gain some horsepower I suppose would be to add a CARB legal Highflow CAT and DCI Shorty Headers (which are CARB compliant). Not sure if the cost of the DCI Shorty Headers are worth the HP gains though. Most importantly though, I will still need to pass the bi-annual smog test.

If none of the above bolt ons are workable and cannot be Dyno'd without Kpro, my options are obviously limited to just the basic Hondata ECU reflash without race header with my current setup.

I appreciate any constructive feedback and/or suggestions as to what options I have for some additional horsepower. I am trying to get around 280-300 BHP, or as close as I can to that number.

Thanks in advance for your help.

KYB OE replacements with ITR springs?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but after a couple hours of reading, i couldn't find a definitive answer.

I purchased ITR suspension from HMO and of course, a shock blew after 9 months. I have a 2002 Base Auto....it's my DD. I do not do any performance driving but i enjoy the occasional on ramp and the lowered ride height of the ITR springs looks nice. So I'm not looking to put any type of expensive coilover on it, or even an expensive shock like Koni Yellows since this car is 100% for commuting.

My Question is: Will OE replacement KYB shocks (~$165/pair on eBay) work OK with the ITR ride height (0.75" drop)? or will they blow easily?

I read thread after thread about OE replacement shocks blowing on lowering springs, but most people use lowering springs with 1.5"-3" drop, so of course i can understand OE shocks blowing. But ITR is so mild with .75" drop that i'm wondering if i can get away with OE replacement shocks.

My alternative options are:

1. Buy $650 A-spec suspension brand new from eBay (but i'd rather not spend that much since only 1 shock is blown right now and i can get away with replacing only a pair)

2. Buy used USDM OEM springs and a full set of KYB OE replacements. (Full set of KYB is cheap @ $400 on eBay but then i have to find OEM springs and this will put me back to ugly stock height).

...I would really like to spend $165 on a pair of rear KYB OE replacements and be done....

Anyone know what part this is?

Lost all hope

I really do not know if anyone can even point me in the right direction. I've always wanted an Rsx. I finally bought a 2006 Rsx type s. It needed a paint job and some body work but I was up for the challenge. I live in pa and went to Delaware to buy a 2006 Rsx type s that had a reconstructed title. I brought the car back to last and that's when it all went wrong. I brought the car to a garage to get fixed up a bit and was going to get it transferred into my name and inspected. I find out since the car has a reconstructed title and came from out of state that I had to get it reconstructed all over again, well the inspection that approves it to drive. It's the enhanced safety inspection which not a lot of garages do I found out. First the guy tells me I had to remove the race header and the aftermarket exhaust and bring it back to stock, that ran me about a grand. Next he said the after market hids were not legal so I had to get stock headlights and that was a nightmare getting all the sockets and everything from the dealer since I could not use the ones from the hids, that cost me about 700 for the headlights. Finally I think I'm going to be able to get the car inspected and the guy tells me he can't because the Srs light is on. So he found out I needed a new driver airbag and a drives seat airbag, I bought new seats since mine were ripped anyway, and another driver side airbag. Then he told me I needed a new Srs control module, I finally found one from an unwrecked Rsx all of that was about 1500. At this point the garage has had my car for 3 months....:randy: he calls me after he installed all the airbag components and was like I can't fix it. He then told me I should just sell it and cut my losses. It went to another garage after that and the guy said he read the codes and it's saying everything I replaced is bad. So he assumed I just needed another Srs module and that my second one was bad also. It took him about 3 weeks to determine that. So at this point I'm so overwhelmed and frustrated I went back to the first garage and asked him if he could do me a solid and just inspect it with the stupid Srs light on. He said absolutely not. I was looking for anyway around the Srs light, I was ready to take out the stupid light itself but someone told me they would be able to tell since it wouldn't come on at all. I am ready to take the car back to Delaware and just get it transferred to my name there since it's already deemed reconstructed in that state. I'm so frustrated, if I would have bought the car off someone in pa with an r title I wouldn't have to redo any enhanced safety inspection. I've already spent double what I payed for the car.. All these garages had no idea what they were doing it seems and I'm at the point where I do not want to spend money replacing anything else since they couldn't fix it. Does anyone know of anything I can do.. This whole thing has me ready to kills myself out of frustration. If anyone has a suggestion or is in pa and knows how to fix Srs problems please let me know I'm desperate.. Thank you

Transmission problems need help please

Bought my 06 type s 2 years ago, a month later 3rd started grinding. I changed the trans fluid and it didn't help... I decided my synchros are probably shot. Since I have been rev matching and double clutching to get into 3rd gear fine, but the other day my clutch went out. I decided now is the time to get the synchros done too so I took it to a transmission shop and they gave me a quote for $1600 Stage 1 clutch, resurfaced flywheel, and full trans overhaul parts and labor included. I jumped on it. Well they called me today and said that the mainshaft is destroyed and it ruined my case so it needs a whole new transmission and it's going to be $3600! I'm calling bullsh** I drove the car to their shop fine. I'm not paying them to do it, but I have to go tow it tomorrow. Long story short I need to either rebuild my transmission myself ( a task I think I am capable of doing ) or find a new trans. Any recommendations? What transmissions are direct swaps? If I can find a good price on a type r imported transmission is it a direct swap? Thanks. I have researched but I am working on a very limited time frame here so any advice would be appreciated guys. Also if I do the rebuild myself I want to build it to hold more power so I can turbo it so suggestions on parts and options for that would be appreciated too.

Which offset to run for 17x10?

Im currently running 17x9+18 and it seems to be just about the perfect offset for the x9s while running 255 Toyo RR racing slicks. Wondering what offset would set the tire at a similar location to the 17x9+18!

SPC Front & Rear Camber Kit
$154.56 Free Shipping!

Description
**note: 2002 only - VIN # 2C003184 and after**

Rear Camber Kit
Kit comes with rubber bushings only. EZ Arms XR make rear camber adjustment possible on cars that have been lowered for performance and for those that retain the stock ride height. Simply replace the OE arm with the EZ Arm XR, and you can adjust the rear camber.

Adjustment range: -4.00 degrees to +6.00 degrees.

Front Camber Kit
The new EZ Cam(tm) XR is designed for non-slotted struts. It allows both positive and negative camber changes up to approximately 1.75 degrees (depending on vehicle) by replacing the upper O.E. strut/spindle bolt. This easy to use adjuster provides built-in adjustment over the life of a vehicle just by rotating the head of the bolt. Each kit contains two cam bolt assemblies, enough for both sides of the vehicle.

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Review

Quote:

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 17 years since a hatchback version of the Honda Civic was last sold in North America.

Sure, there was Honda’s half-hearted attempt at reviving the beloved bodystyle in the early 2000s with the niche three-door Civic Si, but even that was discontinued more than a decade ago, leaving a huge gap in the automaker’s lineup. But Honda is ready to make up for lost time with an all-new Civic hatch aimed at fun and function.

In bringing the Civic hatch back to North American shores, Honda has cranked up the car’s practicality with the addition of two rear doors. It rides on the same platform as the sedan and coupe models, but measures about 4.5 inches (114 millimeters) shorter than both, giving the Civic hatch a sportier stance than its stablemates thanks to wheels that sit closer to the corners. Matching that athletic posture is a new design from the B-pillar back that is almost coupe-like in execution, as well as a slightly revised front fascia that includes a black grille with larger openings, and larger bumper inserts front and back.

Despite the abbreviated proportions, the Civic hatch weighs 2,815 lb (1,277 kg) in base trim, and 3,003 lb (1,362 kg) in loaded Sport Touring guise — as much as 100 lb (45 kg) more than equivalent sedan models thanks to the added heft of the tailgate. Lift the tailgate, however, and the weight gains are quickly forgiven, with the car boasting what is easily one of the largest cargo holds in its class. With 25.7 cu-ft (728 liters) of space behind the rear seats, the Civic hatch offers more cargo-carrying ability than hatchback versions of the Mazda3 (20.2 cu-ft, 572 liters), Chevrolet Cruze (22.7 cu-ft, 643 liters) and Ford Focus (23.3 cu-ft, 660 liters). It’s only with the rear seats folded that the Honda is surpassed, with the Mazda3 (47.1 cu-ft, 1,334 liters) and Cruze hatch (47.2 cu-ft, 1,337 liters) besting the Civic (46.2 cu-ft, 1,308 liters) in terms of volume.

When the rear seats are up, the Civic hatch also benefits from an industry-first rear privacy cover that rolls out from the side, saving space by staying tucked out of the way until it’s needed. This is one of the neatest interior features of the car, and has the ability to be mounted on the left or right, with no need to remove it when the seats are folded.

2006 RSX-S to 2017 STi

I bought my 2006 rsx type s back in november 2005. I was the original owner and it was sad to see it go. It was a lot of fun and maybe Ill get another one but the STi...wow its amazing.

Sept 2010: The motor blew in the rsx with 63k miles... the dealer said it was because i put the wrong oil in. After fighting for about a month, they replaced the motor. I had two months left on the warranty. Apparently the timing chain tensioner went, and then the motor. Other than this, I never really had a problem with the rsx.
