I apologize if this has been asked before, but after a couple hours of reading, i couldn't find a definitive answer.
I purchased ITR suspension from HMO and of course, a shock blew after 9 months. I have a 2002 Base Auto....it's my DD. I do not do any performance driving but i enjoy the occasional on ramp and the lowered ride height of the ITR springs looks nice. So I'm not looking to put any type of expensive coilover on it, or even an expensive shock like Koni Yellows since this car is 100% for commuting.
My Question is: Will OE replacement KYB shocks (~$165/pair on eBay) work OK with the ITR ride height (0.75" drop)? or will they blow easily?
I read thread after thread about OE replacement shocks blowing on lowering springs, but most people use lowering springs with 1.5"-3" drop, so of course i can understand OE shocks blowing. But ITR is so mild with .75" drop that i'm wondering if i can get away with OE replacement shocks.
My alternative options are:
1. Buy $650 A-spec suspension brand new from eBay (but i'd rather not spend that much since only 1 shock is blown right now and i can get away with replacing only a pair)
2. Buy used USDM OEM springs and a full set of KYB OE replacements. (Full set of KYB is cheap @ $400 on eBay but then i have to find OEM springs and this will put me back to ugly stock height).
...I would really like to spend $165 on a pair of rear KYB OE replacements and be done....
