Power Steering Leak

Hi, I have a 2003 Acura RSX w/ a power steering leak that requires me to refill the reservoir every couple weeks. My brother had this car before me & he eventually took into the shop to have looked at. They told him it would cost him at least a grand to fix. Pretty much would be worth more than the car to fix. The shop said something about taking the engine out to get to the leak. Finger crossed that they were wrong.

I am wondering if the lines are leaking bad enough to cause me to lose alot of power steering fluid. You can see in the images that is leaking around the lines running to the reservoir. Would you recommend pouring the power steering fluid that fills in the leaks? Or is that not worth risk of completely destroying my power steering? Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris

K20a2 Swap Question

Hello a buddy of mine has a civic si 4 door, FA5, it got hydro locked and blew a hole in the motor, he had a spare K20a2 motor laying around and decided to want to bolt that onto the Civic si, will he be able to use the car with the K20a2 Longblock but with RBC manifold and throttle body since its drive by cable and not drive by wire, will the Si work with the stock ecu, or will he need to have it flashed in order to work?

Thanks

New Dsm owner from PA

Hello all, I just picked up a 2002 dsm type s back in February. Bought it from the original owner, no mods and the body was too clean to pass up other than a rust bubble over the passenger rear quarter. Since then I've done a few things to get it ready for summer. Did basic maintenance, replaced all fluids, and changed spark plugs. I threw on a pioneer double din I had and without having to do the bypass, the system bumps. Fast forward two weeks and k tuned coilovers along with voodoo13 rear camber arms were installed. Drove it around for a month before finding some wheels and this is how it sits now.

Clutch Problem Please help

Hi I have been a long time lurker but due to a problem with my car I have finally decided to take the plunge.

I have a 2006 rsx type s with 96,000 miles. I noticed that I stalled a couple times when I hadn't in a few years and thought nothing of it. Well a few days later my clutch pedal started shaking and the engine would make a whine when I would push the clutch in. Finally the clutch lost all feel and it became almost impossible to shift.

I checked my fluid reservoir and noticed that it was almost empty. The pedal never got stuck to the floor just had no pressure. Peeled back the gasket on the slave and a bunch of black fluid drained out onto the ground. So I knew that was bad and replaced it. The clutch is firm again and bled but a different problem persists.

When I am idling if I push on the clutch pedal the engine will squeal like metal on metal and the rpms will slowly drop...usually until stall. Something is clearly hanging up causing friction and the rpms to drop. I figured this would be the throw out bearing but from what I have read it should squeal and then go away when I push in the clutch. The pedal also feels weird and the catch point is very low.

I went through a puddle a couple weeks ago and some water got in the engine throwing my o2 sensor CEL. Also I have had the notorious starter grind on startup for a while but only when its cold. Was putting it off until after the winter so I wasn't working in the cold.

Well now Im going to tackle it all at once, already did the clutch slave cylinder and the slave moves back and forth, its been bled. Still on startup with the clutch in it will squeal until I let the clutch out. Then when I push it in to go into gear it will squeal and the rpms will drop. You can also smell what seems to be a noticeable clutch smell. Im slowly working my way down the line and was hoping the clutch wasn't going bad because it has never slipped and was perfectly fine until I noticed the fluid was gone and the pedal had no pressure. Now the pressure is back fluid is fine but something is clearly hanging up with the pedal pushed in. Could it be a bad throw out bearing causing this?

My next step was going to be adjust the pedal and if that doesn't help replace the CMC with a civic once. After that Im going to have to do something with the clutch. I also read on here there is a bearing in the transmission that can cause similar symptoms? Thank you guys.

Advice on new Keys and Locks

All,

I have a 2002 Type S with 200,000 miles on it. I have put lots of time and money into keeping it in perfect shape but I need some advice on a slowly developing problem.

Over the years I have lost all but 1 primary key (including both remotes). Now, my primary key is giving me trouble with the door lock and the ignition.

Everything in this scenario is worn out for sure. My question is; what do you recommend to get all locks re-keyed, get 2 new keys, and get 2 new remotes?

I am hoping to walk into the dealership armed with at least some base knowledge.

Appreciated!

-eric

AC freon going out, or another problem?

I have a '03 RSX (not Type S). The AC works, and the air is cool, but when I'm driving around, the air will occasionally turn warm, as though I didn't have the AC button pressed. These periods of 'warmness' are random, and will last maybe a few minutes. Then the air becomes cool again. It also seems to happen when I'm idling at a stoplight, but not every time.

Sound like freon going out to you guys? It will probably have to go to a shop, as I've heard novices shouldn't attempt to refill the freon themselves.

I was just wanting to know if there was anything I could check before I took it in.
Thanks in advance.

New from Madison, WI

Hi everyone!
I just bought my '04 Type S about 3 weeks ago. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin: Madison. Due to school, I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on her yet. Here are the few things I've done so far to get the car looking a little cleaner before I move into any mods.

Day of Purchase - Visible problems:
Headlights very fogged and yellow-ed, window trim flaking, paint dull and dirty, cracked taillight

Since then:
buffed and waxed paint, fixed flaking window trim, re-cleared headlights, plasti-dipped wheels (temporary to test if I liked black rims before buying a real set), and installed a Kenwood Single DIN head unit I had laying around.

Plans for next couple of weeks:
Replace blown stock struts with either Yonaka or Tein basis Z Coilovers (I know i'm cheap..), Replace cracked left-rear taillight, fix the gaps on the rear hatch

Let me know if you guys have any suggestions or tips :)

Thanks!

K20a2 Build Suggestions First Timer

I looking at rebuilding my High mileage k20a2 in my Rsx soon. I would like to gain some NA performance during the build as well. I'm looking to spend about $2000-3000 dollars and would like to be able to hit 250 whp. I would like to maintain the high revving nature of the k20a2 and possibly rev safely to 9000 rpms. However I'm not sure that is possible in my budget. I've heard alot about the k24/20 frankenstein build. Please keep in mind this will be my first full engine rebuild. Would like some imput on was is actually realistic for my budget and skill level. I absolutely want the engine to actually run once the build is complete, The rsx is meant to be a spirited daily driver. Thanks!

A predicament with my current exhaust setup

Looking for some advice on how to approach my current exhaust problem. I am current running a K-tuned slip fit racing header (4-1 i believe) to a Invidia Q300 catback exhaust. This is all connected by some POS test pipe with a slight bent flange that is currently leaking. I'm wanting stock level noise and would like to have a Cat to get rid of that awful smell. However, I don't want to loose the performance of a performance header, as I am planning on rebuilding my high mileage k20 for some NA power. Anybody have suggestions? I realize I might be asking for the impossible, but how can I at least get close to my goal?
