queston about pulling the motor

Hi everyone. New to this forum. Can't wait to get started looking through the posts and rest of the site but first I need help with a problem I'm having. My rsx is an '04 type s, pretty much bone stock except for cat replaced with test pipe. My car only had 30k miles on it when my brother missed a gear and knocked 2 holes in the block. I was able to scavenge a replacement from eBay with 89k. My problem is I was wanting to remove the blown engine from the top without removing the tranny but it is hanging on something. Is it possible to remove engine through top without tranny. Thanks
