I came across a K24A2 engine with 125K miles on it that a guy was selling for $240.00 because he claimed it had a rod knock.
He said he thinks water may have gotten in the intake manifold, he described the sound as a "ticking" but it still drove.
When I got to the shop that removed the engine, the techs told me they weren't sure why the guy wanted the engine removed
because they turned the crank over manually with ease, there were no metal shavings in the oil, and didn't find any water anywhere.
So my question is, do I really need to take this thing apart before swapping it out? I don't know anything about timing an engine nor installing piston rings/pistons
so I don't want to screw anything up with putting it back together. My current engine has 305K miles on it and its been smoking for some time now so I'd like to swap it out sooner than later.
