Introduction

Hi I'm c2nice from NY and I have an 2004 Type-s with 92,XXX miles on her. I installed a Takeda Short Ram air Intake a few years ago. Added some Spec-D headlights cause mine were fading badly. I had a new clutch installed when I bought it with 80,000 on it...thing was so loose it went to the floor with ease. Had a BG transmission treatment done at 83,000 cause my synchros were still having a problem from 2nd to 3rd...no problem anymore. I always run 92 or 93 for gas and do Mobile 1 full syn... no problems, still get 33mpg and no burning or leaks. Have had the car for 5yrs now with no major issues. Added drilled and slotted rotors all the way with Zevolution pads...no dust and braking is on point. I live in NY so this is summer car and I love it. Don't drive it in the winter unless the roads are clear and its dry out.

Sooo, just about a month or so ago my exhaust fell apart from the cat back. I was kinda shocked....no noises or anything. It just fell apart on my way home from work. I actually thought someone was trying to steal it cause all the flange studs from the cat were basically gone, like melted looking, along with the resonator pipe where it connects to the the cat. Acura charges for OEM cat like 2000 dollars wow!! Insurance company said it was normal rot, happens all the time. OK so now my car is out or order for a bit.

I decided to go above and beyond after this. The cat studs are toast. The secondary springs from the resonator to muffler are rusted out. What a project I had on my hands. So I ripped everything out from the headers back. Broke a spring bolt off in the header..aww man not good. OK lets do the header too. Try to break the header stud nuts first, wont budge, nothing moves grrrrrr. Sprayed some kroi oil and pb blaster on the header bolts and nuts. Now waiting on parts.

OK so my catback arrived. I got an Invidia N1...looks nice, super box it came in, gaskets , bolts, nuts...couldn't be more happy. Ordered a direct fit OBDII cat that arrived next day. And I ordered a DC Sports 4-2-1 header, ceramic coated. I also ordered new O2 sensors. Mine weren't bad, no codes ever, just I broke the wires on the downstream pounding the studs out of the old cat...ooppss.

Finally my 3/8" breaker bar came in for the header..woohoo. First crack, each and every one. Took the strut stabalizer off and pulled the old header right out from the top. Only thing that U bracket that holds the manifold to motor, the motor came out with the breaker bar, I kinda stripped the head on the manifold. A little torch action, breaker bar action after it was out got the bolt to finally come out from the header.

Put the new DC sports header in from the top, new gasket, bolts, and nuts for the header from Acura. Had to replace the heat shield above the cat also, was rusted in the middle. So all said and done, only problem I ran into was one of the hangers for the muffler didnt line up right.

I do have a question tho, After doing what I have done, do I need to get this thing tuned now? Seems to run just fine, no codes since I started it back up. Some rattling in the rear. I do think there is better throttle response and it sounds way better for sure. I am new to this so if there is anyone with an opinion please feel free to let me know.

Looking to do intake manifold next and possibly shocks and struts. Thanks
