Engine is stock except for AEM intake and Invidia exhaust
Did autocross this past Sunday. All was well until the rain came... started pouring so hard they ended up cancelling at the end.
So I'm on my last run, splashing through the course. I finish, and immediately notice I have a fluctuating idle, from normal up to nearly 3k, rinse and repeat. I drive the car back home, CEL pops on. P0505. I check for vacuum leaks, can't find anything.
I let the car sit overnight. Next morning, she runs fine. Idles fine both cold and at operating temp. So I figured something got wet, I clear the CEL and all is well. So I thought.
This morning, at operating temp, I was pulling into work and noticed the fluctuating idle was back. I go to work, blah blah. I leave work, and again, car seems fine. I get to a red light, and suddenly, same idle up and down issue. To not be that guy revving up the red light, I turn my car off. Not even 5 seconds later, light turns green. I turn car back on... the fluctuating idle is gone. I drive all the way home, and it never came back. I parked, revved the engine a few times, noticed that each time, as the RPMs dropped from the rev, it goes down to about 300, nearly stalling out the car, then pop back up to normal idle.
So this is kind of where I am at now. Does this sound like a sensor going bad? I did unplug the IACV with the engine running, and the RPMs shot up over 3k and held, so I'm not sure if that's the issue. I will try cleaning it regardless, but, anything else I should take a look at? CEL popped back on but I was messing around under the hood and accidentally unplugged the IAT sensor from the intake, so I *think* that's why it came back on, though I haven't pulled the code yet (I literally came inside to post this first)
EDIT:
Going to run though this thread here to do some troubleshooting. I'll report back.
