Hey everyone! My car has had this issue with a pool of water in the trunk for quite a while and result is this: (please see pictures below).
I took it all apart and started stripping all the nasty stuff down, but faced a problem: this black kind of soundproof material is extremely hard to remove. I tried a wire brush, a knife, WD40, brake cleaner, etc. and nothing really helped. I was only able to remove a very little piece in the center (please see pictures below).
How did you remove this black soundproof material in the trunk?
Also, how did you fix the trunk rust? It all appears to be surface rust, so I was thinking about cleaning with a drill and a wire brush, then spray it with primer and then with some paint. Any suggestions here?
