02-04 Base w/K24A1 swap using PNF (Si) ecu + Si trans Issue(s)

Borrowing a friends mess of a base RSX to help troubleshoot some under 3500rpm driveability issues.

Notes on this car:

- it was an auto base model converted to 5speed w/econo K24 (accord/element). Its using a stock PNF (Si) ecu to power the engine, Ktuned immobilizer bypass, and Si trans.

- he swapped out the underdash and engine bay harnesseses to that of a manual 02-04 Type-S harnesses (didn't have to do the underdash as I've found out).

- the speedo and odometer don't work for some reason; tho everything else on the cluster seems to work. Note - he did swap out the auto gauge cluster in favor for a manual RSX cluster. After looking it over, the VSS isn't to blame as there is no VSS DTC's and VTEC functions. Must be an underdash wiring issue I assume (something left unplugged perhaps) - anyone have input on this?

- primary 02 gives heater element DTC (this shouldn't prevent the 02 from doing its job tho). I swapped in another known good/working primary 02 and same thing DTC (yes I reset the ecu too). Possibly another wiring issue? (when using a Kpro for testing it says that there is no activity coming from primary 02 - odd).

- the car ran like complete garbage under 3500rpm when I first picked it up. This was due to the dual runner plastic manifold it had used in conjunction with the wrong ECU. A PNF ecu doesn't have the programming for controlling the dual runners, nor were they hooked up being a Type-S engine harness is being used. Big time solution was I swapped over to a PRB intake manifold and TB...ran WAY better (PS: don't use a base RSX tb on anything else but a base plastic manifold! it doesn't have the proper MAP sensor channeling on the backside of the TB like an EP3 or Type-S TB does to be used on a PRB/RBC/etc).

Now I'm still getting some power surging/bogging under 3K with the PRB manifold. After 3500rpm it pulls nice/feels proper.

I'm curious if any other base RSX'ers with a K24A1/4 swap + PRB manifold + PNF ecu experience the same exact thing in regards to the under 3500rpm performance being boggy, intermittent hesitation on acceleration, with moments of power surging (after 3500rpm it runs fine tho).

If you're experiencing the same thing that will be a relief and I think I know what the obvious problem is if you keep reading.... PLEASE LET ME KNOW THO =)

I know moving to a Kpro is the only solution to get this thing to running proper, but I wanna know if this is a normal operating scenario with said parts mentioned from people here who've done this exact swap or near same swap.

On a side note, I have access to a kpro'd PNF ecu that I just tinkered with on this car. The car runs absolutely perfect in all RPM's when I upload the Accord startup calibration included with Kmanager and made a few changes to accomodate this car (ie. scaled tps, turned on several sensors, etc). Map wise I didn't touch a thing and it runs great under 3500rpm!

Now with a stock PNF/Si map I get the hesitation back under 3500rpm. So for shits n giggles, one by one, I copied over the Accord VTC low cam + low ignition + low fuel over to the stock Si map. Going on test drives for each change. The test drive with the VTC + ignition didn't eradicate the hesitation (felt a tad better) but once I did the fuel mapping it got noticeably better and the hesitation was mostly gone. This all makes sense tho being the Si stock tune is only meant for a 2liter, not 2.4liter.

Using an 03-04 accord ecu sounds like it would be the ticket but those cars use the newer style front trans mounted high frequency style VSS's so meh to that.

Any info you can provide would be great - TIA.
