Multiplex Control Unit failure - Entry lights

Hey all, hoping that given time I will solve my only problem here. Thus I am only creating this to help anyone else who encounters this issue. However if anyones encountered this before....feel free to share

Some history:
A couple months back I installed footwell lighting in my rsx that turn on whenever it has an open door or is unlocked. Wired to the constant power and switched/variable ground wires that power the dome light when its set to the middle position.

That always worked well accept when i blew the interior light fuse when doing the initial install.(more on that later)

More recent happenings:
Recently I decided to push this concept to the door sills. Did the passengers side first to test the look.

After a week of perfect operation I installed the right side. Tested them and they worked perfectly. Returned to the car an hour later........no door sill lights, no footwell lights, no dome light.

The issue:(where it gets weird)
Originally thought it was the interior list fuse......but the dome light will work when switched to on and the spotlights work. Checked the fuse anyway.....wasnt blown, but instead of replacing the 7.5A fuse with another 7.5 i replaced it with a 20A because there wasn't a 7.5 spare...................(since replaced with 7.5)

I started pulling lights off thinking they may be drawing more current then available. Didn't work

Checked wiring for shorts. No shorts found

Thought door switches were broken. "door open" light still appears on dash

Checked the wires I tapped into.......both of which are now showing constant 12V power. One of these wires is(or was.....) the dedicated switched/variable ground wire controlled by the multiplex unit.

Whats happening now:
Ive traced the wires back pretty far and cant find any possible cause. Talking to some electrical gurus I know, our best guess is that something was fried in the multiplex unit, bridging whats supposed to be a ground to a constant power.

Luckily I am blessed to have spare cars on hand and will be pulling the multiplex/dashboard fuse box from a spare car tomorrow.....hopefully i will have swapped them in a couple days.

If anyone has experience swapping the interior fuse box please let me know......because i cant understand for the life of me how any of the components are designed to be assessable

.......So thats my story, as I've said hopefully ill solve my own issue and this will help someone in the future. But if you've ever been in the same situation, feel free to chime in.
